Lancaster County teen, accused of killing sister, will be tried as an adult

A Lancaster County teen, accused of stabbing her disabled sister to death, will stand trial as an adult.

On Monday, a judge denied Claire Miller's request to move the charges to juvenile court.

Miller is accused of stabbing her 19-year-old sister to death inside of their Manheim Township home in February 2021, when she was just 14-years-old.

During a hearing last month, the defense claimed that Miller could be rehabilitated in the juvenile system.

However, the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office claimed that the now 16-year-old Miller would be a danger to society if released in five years.

Under Pennsylvania law, all criminal homicide charges start in adult court, and the defendant must petition to move them into juvenile court, ultimately needing a judge's approval.
