Local food banks ask for help as they feed the community

This is the busiest time of year for food banks like Faith Centre.

The amount of volunteers peaks around the holidays, a time of year where people focus on giving back.

But this is also a time of year that can get stressful when it comes down to money.

Food banks provide assistance to people on fixed incomes and working families with children.

People come in to get boxes of food for their families and their pets.

All of this organized in hopes of lifting the pressure so many feel this time of year.

"Everybody thinks about charity in November and December, and especially food -- I mean that is the -- I think that is the foremost thing we think about when we think about holidays,” said Nicole Summers. β€œIt's like we wanna be sure everybody has a really nice meal on their table, and they can just relax and enjoy time with their families."

If you're in the Bellefonte area and want to get involved, all you need to do is mail in a check, set up a food drive, drop off food in person or go to their website www.faithcentre.info.
