Newcomers oust Republican Somerset County Commissioners

The results are in for the highly contested race for Somerset County Commissioner.

The current commissioners are Gerald Walker, Colleen Dawson and Pamela Tokar-Ickes.

There were a total of eight candidates: four Republican and four Democrat fighting for a chance to fill those three seats.

First up on the Republican ticket: The two winners are newcomers Brian Fochtman and Irvin Kimmel Jr.

That means current commissioners Dawson and Walker are now off the ballot and will no longer hold their positions.

On the Democratic side, incumbent Pamela Tokar-Ickes won alongside James Shepley.

These four candidates will now move on to the general election to see who will get those final three commissioner seats.
