Animal hospital evacuated over X-ray machine leak

VALENCIA, Pa. (AP) — An animal hospital in Pennsylvania has been evacuated over a leaking X-ray machine. A hazmat team responded to Twinbrook Animal Clinic, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Pittsburgh, on Friday morning. Crews say the leakage apparently filled a room with fumes and left one worker with a minor burn. Officials told WPXI-TV that the substance isn't radioactive. DNA advances credited in arrest in 1975 cold-case murder

(AP) — Authorities have announced an arrest in the stabbing death of a 19-year-old woman in Pennsylvania almost a half-century ago, crediting advances in DNA technology and genetic genealogical research. Lancaster County prosecutors and Manor Township police said Monday that a criminal homicide charge had been filed against 68-year-old David Sinopoli in the December 1975 murder of Lindy Sue Beichler. “Lindy Sue Beichler was 19 when her life was brutally taken away from her 46 years ago in the sanctity of her own home,” District Attorney Heather Adams said. JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Two EMS employees from Cambria County are on a leave of absence after not following proper protocols regarding personal protective equipment. The two people were part-time employees at East Hills Ambulance. The two employees were reprimanded and were placed on a leave of absence because of failing to wear a mask while on duty. Coroner rules death of missing Penn State student who fell down trash chute as accidental

State College, PA (WJAC) — The Centre County coroner's office has officially made a ruling in the death of 19-year-old Justine Gross, the Penn State student who was reported missing in November and was later found dead after falling down an 11-story trash chute. Investigators say Gross suffered "multiple, acute blunt force trauma" as a result of the fall and her death has officially been deemed an accident. Authorities say the toxicology report showed that Gross had both marijuana and alcohol in her system at the time of her death. [Read More]
