State police ID man killed after head-on crash involving dump truck in Huntingdon County

UPDATEHUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Huntingdon County. It happened on Route 453 in Warriors Mark Township around 7 a.m. State police say a Chevy Trail Blazer was traveling south when the driver, William Brown, lost control around a turn. The brand new high school football season kicks off Friday, Aug. 25, across western and central Pennsylvania.

The WJAC-TV 6 Sports team held its third annual "High School Football Kickoff Special" Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Area teams, bands and cheerleaders joined Jordan Conigliaro, Brett Hiltbrand and Kari Osep live for one full hour.

The program featured previews on every team in the region.

Harvard leaders deny graduation for 13 pro-Palestine student protesters

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (TND) — Harvard University’s governing body on Wednesday denied a faculty push to award degrees to 13 seniors undergoing disciplinary action for their involvement in a pro-Palestine demonstration on campus. Harvard was one of several schools across the country to host a Gaza solidarity encampment in protest of the conflict in the Middle East. Man convicted of 2009 Altoona murders found dead in prison

ERIE, Pa. (WJAC) — A Johnstown man who was serving a life sentence at SCI Albion in Erie County for killing two Blair County Residents in 2009 committed suicide, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. Corrections officers found 39-year-old Nicholas Horner unresponsive in his jail cell just before 2 a.m. Saturday while they were conducting routine checks of all the cell blocks, according to a release from the DOC. Online petition aims to prevent suicide on McNally Bridge

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP -- The McNally Bridge carries Route 219 over the Stonycreek River and has unfortunately been a spot where people have gone to commit suicide. An online petition was started this week to urge PennDOT and other public officials to do something to help change that. The university's trustees are slated to vote on a renovation plan that's expected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and there are already questions about where Penn State is going to come up with that kind of money. Punxsutawney man charged with girlfriend's murder in Jefferson County shooting case

2ND UPDATE |Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — A 20-year-old Punxsutawney man has been charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend in Jefferson County. State police have charged Dakota Greeley with criminal homicide, murder and terroristic threats. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Greeley shot and killed Trisha Renee Cole Thursday morning on Coyote Drive in Clover Township. At about 10:25 a.m. Thursday, police reportedly found Greeley near Coyote Drive where he fired two shots from his rifle, according to the affidavit. [Read More]
