BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WJAC) — Just in time for back-to-school shopping, one Centre County store is looking to help people with financial struggles.
The Faith Centre in Bellefonte is offering free clothes through an event going on right now.
The center has several clothing racks full of free clothes for grades K through 12, and you don't have to live in the area to take advantage.
“We do know that there are a lot of families in Centre County and in the surrounded counties that are barely making ends meet,” says Faith Center’s executive director, Nicole Summers.

Elk County duo charged with drug delivery resulting in death of relative
RIDGWAY - Elk County District Attorney Shawn McMahon announced Wednesday that two women have been charged with supplying drugs that killed a 24-year-old Kaitlyn Buerk in 2017.
Police have filed drug delivery resulting in death charges against Allison Miller, 29, of Byrnedale and Theresa Sample., 27, of Johnsonburg. Officials said Miller is Buerk’s sister, and Sample is her cousin.
McMahon said this is the first time this type of offense has been filed in the county.

Fourth of July celebrations keep Cambria County 911 dispatchers busy with fireworks-related calls
Johnstown, Pa — While many were busy on the Fourth of July with parties, 911 dispatchers were busy at work where they received some calls related to those celebrations - especially surrounding the fireworks.
6 News spoke with Art Martynuska, the Executive Director of Cambria County Emergency Services who says these kinds of calls on holidays like the Fourth of July are nothing out of the ordinary.

Local landlord association hosts community networking event
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — A landlord outreach event was held Monday in Cambria County.
The event was hosted by the Greater Johnstown Landlord Association and was used to introduce new landlords to the organization while also welcoming previous landlords that they know back to the area.
Four experts spoke at the event and talked about their unique perspectives to the challenges that are faced by landlords.
Organizers say agencies providing housing assistance are changing or coming to an end, so they say it's important for landlords and tenants to know what type of assistance is available.

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Sheetz officials say they’re celebrating Truck Driver Appreciation Week by cutting diesel fuel prices.
They announced Thursday they’re reducing diesel prices by 35 cents per gallon at all their locations.
It’s the 35th year for Truck Driver Appreciation year.
Sheetz says they’re also decreasing their diesel exhaust fluid prices to 99 cents per gallon at the pump.

Cambria County man facing felony charges after starting fire in family home
A Cambria County man is facing felony charges after lighting a fire in a bedroom after a verbal altercation Thursday, police said.
According to a criminal complaint, police were dispatched to a home on the 100 block of Lakeview Road in Cambria Township after reports of an individual was threatening family members.
Police said they spoke with the family and were informed that Mark Gergely, 47, had went to the residence and was chasing a family member around and making verbal threats.

DA, PSP investigating alleged theft of funds from Central Cambria wrestling boosters
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Cambria County authorities say they are investigating the alleged theft of funds from the Central Cambria wrestling boosters club.
District Attorney Greg Neugebauer confirms that the detectives and state police have launched an investigation into the matter.
"Specific details are not being released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation," Neugebauer adds.

Hot-shooting Funk leads Penn St to first NCAA win since 01
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Andrew Funk had the shooting game of his career on Penn State’s biggest stage in more than two decades.
Funk went 8 of 10 on 3-pointers and scored 27 points Thursday night in a 76-59 win over Texas A&M for the Nittany Lions’ first NCAA Tournament victory in 22 years.
