Some legislators in the Pennsylvania Senate are trying to put a stop to the practice of day light saving.
Daylight saving time was first enacted as a legal requirement by the Uniform Time Act of 1966. Motivated by transportation improvements and arguments about energy saving– according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Since then, studies by the National Bureau of Economic Research have shown the opposite. Sheetz convenience store puts Bitcoin ATMs in 6 shops
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — A Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain is putting Bitcoin ATMs in six shops around the state and one in North Carolina, giving customers the ability to buy and sell the cryptocurrency with U.S. dollars.
Sheetz, based in Altoona, Pennsylvania, announced Tuesday it has teamed up with Coinsource to put the ATMs in the five Pennsylvania stores and a shop in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Ryan Sheetz, a vice president at the company, says the chain is always trying to be innovative and give customers what they want.

2 new restaurants open in Johnstown as others close
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP -- Over the last couple of years, multiple stores and restaurants in Johnstown have been closing.
The list includes the famous Coney Island Lunch, the Yellow Jacket Café, Ponderosa Steakhouse, Ryan's and Lone Star Steakhouse.
Recently, Bon-Ton department store also announced it is closing its doors in The Johnstown Galleria.
But as some businesses close, others are opening.

Coroner IDs passenger killed when car collided with deer in Clearfield County
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Clearfield County coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder has identified the passenger of a Pontiac Grand Prix who was killed early Friday morning when a car collided with a deer in Union Township.
Investigators say the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. Friday as the driver of the Pontiac, a 28-year-old Luthersburg man, was traveling eastbound on Rockton Mountain Highway. Police say a deer reportedly entered the roadway and was struck by the car.

Coroner IDs victim of Hornerstown house fire
UPDATE | Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees has identified the victim of the early morning fatal house fire in the Hornerstown section of Johnstown.
Lees says 32-year-old Alexander Perring suffered thermal and inhalation injuries in the blaze.
Investigators say the fire broke out at the home, located along the 700 block of Pine Street, just before 2 a.m., while crews were responding to another house fire that was just a few blocks away.

Multiple crews fight fire in Halfmoon Township
HALFMOON TWP, Pa. (WJAC) — Several departments responded to a fire Tuesday in Centre County.
According to dispatch, the fire broke out at 109 Tow Hill Road in Halfmoon Township.
Officials have not confirmed if anyone was home at the time of the fire or if there are any injuries.

Cambria County sheriff warns of scam callers posing as deputies
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The Cambria County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam circulating in the area.
Authorities say a person(s) is calling people pretending to be a sheriff’s deputy.
They say the caller is telling people they have active warrants for their arrest or that they missed jury duty and that they must pay a certain amount of money to the caller in order to stay out of jail.

Kroger gets approval for at-home COVID-19 tests
CINCINNATI, Ohio (WKRC) - Kroger is announcing it is among the first to receive emergency use authorization for a COVID-19 test taken at home.
People cannot walk in and buy the test off the shelf. They must have a prescription and get them online through the Little Clinic.
The at-home tests are part of a partnership with Gravity Diagnostics based in Covington, Kentucky. Gravity Diagnostics analyzes up to seven thousand COVID-19 tests a day for patients around the country.
