On a wall at Altoona Pipe and Steel, a recently unveiled mural depicting the life of William Nesbit is on display.
He was described as a leading civil rights activist.
Nesbit's activism often included direct action.

Puff Super Value robbed at gunpoint
ALTOONA – The Puff Super Value tobacco store in the Juniata section of Altoona was robbed at gunpoint Saturday morning, police reported.
Police said the description of the suspect in Saturday's incident is similar to that of a man seen in surveillance images from three other recent Blair County armed robberies. Officials said Wednesday those images show a suspect wearing what looks like similar clothing in each of the incidents.

Beccaria Township blaze leaves family without a home
COALPORT, Pa. (WJAC) — A blaze in Beccaria Township left a family without a home Thursday night.
A fire started at a home on Main Street in Coalport on Thursday afternoon.
Fire crews arrived to find the first floor of the single-family home engulfed.
Officials say their fast response helped keep the fire contained to the first floor.
Officials say they're still unsure as to the structural integrity of the building, and they say there were no injuries in the fire.

Millheim Pool reopens; celebrating 50th anniversary of operations
CENTRE CO, Pa (WJAC) — The Millheim Pool, located at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park in Penns Valley, reopened this weekend after being closed last summer due to the pandemic.
The pool is also celebrating its 50th anniversary of operations this year.
Staff says the pool's reopening was delayed a few weeks due to equipment and supply issues.

Steelers re-sign kicker Chris Boswell to 5-year deal
LATROBE, Pa. (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers are holding onto one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history.
The team re-signed veteran Chris Boswell to a five-year deal on Tuesday that carries a total value of just over $23 million. Boswell was entering the final season of a four-year extension he signed before the 2018 season.
