Police shooting near Ligonier leads to man's death; investigation underway
UPDATE | LIGONIER TWP., Pa. — Authorities have identified the person shot and killed by police Sunday afternoon in Ligonier Township.
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees says an autopsy revealed 59-year-old Robbie Saunders died of blood loss from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
He died just before 5 p.m. in the operating room of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Woman charged with vandalism of Lion Shrine
University Park, Pa. (WJAC) – A New Jersey woman is charged with damaging the iconic Penn State statue in May, court documents said.

Bird-in-Hand Family Inn to reopen, host guests in Pool Building
LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — The Bird-in-Hand Family Inn will reopen on Tuesday after an explosion destroyed much of the property in December, the family-owned business announced Monday.

Cambria County officials react to five county employees receiving "very large yearend bonuses"
Cambria County controller Ed Cernic Jr. said about $70,000 went to five county employees at the end of last year.
The people are getting the stipends in large part because of the additional work they did after former chief clerk Michael Gelles died in April last year. The county is still without a chief clerk.
Officials said the employees role in implementing a new software system.
Cernic said he is the one that proposed the idea to the commissioners and when the salary board, made of the commissioners and the controller, voted on the stipends at the last commissioners meeting of 2023, the stipends passed with a 3-1 vote.
